The Montasio plateau is the largest area devoted to mountain grazing in the whole region. The district includes the following Alpine farms: Cregnedul di Sopra, Larice, Parte di Mezzo and Pecol, where cheese-making and rural tourism activities are undertaken. The Montasio plateau, a place of extraordinary beauty, was the finish of a stage of the Giro d'Italia in 2013.

And then...
From the Montasio plateaus you can go back to Sella Nevea and descend to Tarvisio, passing by the village of Cave del Predil and the namesake lake. Setting out from the Pecol hut, you can reach the Giacomo Di Brazzà shelter (CAI trail no. 622), a wonderful terrace on the Monte Canin group.
In Sella Nevea, there is an "adventure park" for the children. The name of the municipality of Chiusaforte derives from "la sclusa", i.e. a place that has been a sluice for the valley of the Fella river since 1072, where transit fees were collected. A few relics of the mighty fortress that overlooked the valley remain.
On the road leading to Tarvisio you find Cave del Predil, which is famous for the Raibl International Geo-mining Park. The lead and zinc mine, whose exploitation was abandoned in 1991, can be visited on an electrically-powered train with a tourist guide. The mining exhibition, which explains the life and history of the village (with photos, minerals, work tools, mock-ups, and miniature mineral processing machinery) is particularly well-curated. Extraction activities here are said to date back to the pre-Roman period (800 BC). The Bretto tunnel – built to support the disposal of the water circulating through the lower levels of the mine – is considered a unique political and geographical feature. It also houses the Historical-Military Museum of the Julian Alps, in which a huge archive of documents (including foreign), findings and relevant objects is kept. The visit may continue to the fortification areas: Batteria Sella Predil, Forte Lago Predil, the former Vallo Vittorio works. Near the village you can find the Lago del Predil (Raiblersee, Rabeljsko jezero) (959 m), a famous summer tourist resort.
In Tarvisio, the parish church, the square and the monument to the Austrian grenadier are worth a visit. In its surroundings, you can see the Slizza ravine, the Fusine lakes and the Forest museum.
