The panoramic view that you enjoy from Monte Cuar embraces the whole plains of Friuli and, on particularly clear days, you can glimpse the sea. Griffons wheel around this area and you can find ponies in the wild (the Konics)

Trasaghis (Ud)
From the hamlet of Avasinis, in the municipality of Trasaghis, you follow a road which is initially paved, later gets a stabilized bed, up to Prà da Steppa. At the fork keep right, you briefly descend then climb again with long hairpin bends up to the upper edge of the beech wood, then, after a short time, you reach the Alpine pastures.

And then...
At the fork in Prà da Steppa, if you follow the road on the left, you pass by the Cuel di Forchia saddle, then descend to Monte Prât, and later to Forgaria nel Friuli. From the Monte Cuar farm or from the Cuel di Forchia saddle you can follow an interesting ring-shaped path along CAI trails no. 815 and 816, and reach the top of Monte Cuar, where a broad view over the whole Friulian plains opens up.
In the municipality of Trasaghis a visit to the Lago dei Tre Comuni and, in Braulins, to the evocative small church of San Michele dei Pagani, built in the Longobard period against a spur of rock, are both worthwhile.
In Forgaria del Friuli and in its surroundings the following are noteworthy: the Monte Prat plateau, a wonderful natural hollow with a unique fauna and flora; the natural reserve of Lake Cornino; the Casa della manualità rurale - Geis and Riscjei, an exhibition of conical wicker baskets ("gerle") and rakes, and Castel Raimondo, an ancient archaeological site and the altarpiece of the saint "San Zuan di Flavuigne". In these areas the repopulation of the griffon vulture (Gyps fulvus), also called Curnin's condor, is being studied within the namesake scientific project.
