Mongranda

From Mongranda, following the CAI trail no. 806 you can reach the Val dairy hut; opposite it, Eastward, on the South-Western side of Monte Lovinzola you can see the "Crist di Val" grotto. Its walls and part of the vault are almost completely covered with engravings and bas-reliefs. In the past it was a place of cult, in particular, people used to climb up here to invoke rain in times of drought. For art lovers, in Verzegnis the ART PARK has been opened, where you can admire extraordinary contemporary works of art made right outdoors by world famous artists. In Colle Mazeit you can admire a multi-layer fortified settlement dating from 3600 B.C. to the 13th century A.D.

From Verzegnis you reach Sella Chianzutan, continue slightly downhill, then reach a fork on the road that, after a few turns, climbs up to the Mongranda Alpine farm.

And then...

Sella Chianzutan can also be comfortably reached from Pinzano al Tagliamento (Pordenone) through the Arzino valley or from Preone, through the namesake valley on not always practicable roads. From the Alpine farm, keep right on the forest road and, after long hairpin bends, pass by the Presoldon farm, go through the tunnel and reach the marble quarry and, from here, the Val dairy hut. From the Mongranda farm, on a CAI trail, you can climb directly up to the upper section of the Val farm, then cross the Cormolina saddle and descend to Invillino di Villa Santina.
