The pastures of the Pieltinis farm embrace the whole eastern side of the namesake mountain and the talweg under the peak presents one of the richest moors of the entire Carnic Alp ridge. On the meadows bordering the farm, in addition to the monk's rhubarb, we also find the slender foxtail, the dandelion, and Scheuchzer's bellflower.

Sauris is an old village with a characteristic architecture: its houses and cottages are built with the "Blockbau" technique (overlapping logs with joined notched corners) with roofs covered with wood shingles. Its two parts, Sauris di Sopra and Sauris di Sotto, have been recently restructured and the influences from the Austrian architecture are particularly clear. The Saurano language, of German origins, is peculiar. The village has the ethnographic centre "Haus van der Zahre" which hosts the exhibition "La storia riemersa - Cimeli di guerra / Khriekhgedeinkhn" (The re-emerged history - War memorabilia) and the Historiographic Centre – S. Osvaldo Museum, which show the everyday life of the inhabitants of the Lumiei valley through seven centuries, as well as several craft workshops. The PGI raw ham, the speck, and the craft beer are well-knownn.
In natural and environmental terms, the view on the namesake lake, with the majestic dam, is really fascinating. In the woods you can encounter roe deer, deer, chamois, martens, skunks, beech martens, squirrels, dormice, voles, black grouses and capercaillies, various diurnal and nocturnal raptors and, for some years now, also lynxes and brown bears.
In Ampezzo, the Pinacoteca Davanzo art gallery inside Palazzo Unfer, containing an interesting collection of art works, and the geological museum, with a rich repertoire of rocks and fossils covering a period of 400 million years, are worth a visit. Other architectural points of interest are the church of San Daniele, the church of the Santissima Trinità (in Oltris) and the Palazzo Beorchia - Nigris of the 17th century, a typical example of Carnic architecture.
In the Pesarina valley lies Pesariis (part of the municipality of Prato Carnico), called the village of clocks, because it was the birthplace of the Solari family, the founders of the namesake clock factory. In the village centre clocks and two monumental sundials are displayed, which represent the evolution of the local industry. A visit to Casa Bruseschi is also very interesting: it is a typical local aristocratic residence dating back to the 16th-17th centuries where period furniture and tools are displayed.
