The farm has been recently refurbished, while preserving the same architectural features of the past. The Malins lake is not far from here. Since it is shallow and has a rich aquatic vegetation, there are no fish and the fauna mainly consists of newts. The picturesque surrounding Alpine landscape is really breath-taking, especially the view toward the Pesarine Dolomites.
Site
Prato Carnico (Ud)
From the Sauris side: from the fountain in Sauris di Sopra you continue on the right, following the directions for Casera Festons, which can be reached along a mostly paved road. Leaving the hut behind you, continue along a cart track to Casera Malins. From the Pesarina valley side: the dirt road leading to the hut begins around three hundred metres before the Pradibosco hotel. First, it descends on the left to the ford on the Ongara torrent, then it starts to climb. Only be sure to keep right at the two forks you encounter along the way.

Sauris, an age-old village, is architecturally interesting for its houses and cottages built with the "Blockbau" technique (overlapping logs with joined notched corners), with roofs covered with wood shingles. Its two parts – Sauris di Sopra and Sauris di Sotto, which have been recently restructured and are clearly influenced by the Austrian architecture – are worth a visit. Saurano, a German dialect spoken here, is culturally and ethnographically noteworthy. In the village you can visit the ethnographic centre "Haus van der Zahre" and its exhibition "La storia riemersa - Cimeli di guerra / Khriekhgedeinkhn" (The re-emerged history - War memorabilia) and the S. Osvaldo Historiographic Centre – Museum showing everyday life in the valley through seven centuries. Sauris has many craft workshops and is famous for the PGI raw ham, the "speck", and its craft beer.
Nearby, the namesake lake with the imposing dam is really charming. Moreover, the bordering woods are inhabited by roe deer, deer, chamois, martens, skunks, beech martens, squirrels, dormice, voles, black grouses and capercaillies, various diurnal and nocturnal raptors and also by lynxes and brown bears for some years now.
Pesariis (municipality of Prato Carnico), is the village of clocks, because here a brisk clock-making activity was set up by the Solari brothers with their factory. In the village streets, clocks and monumental sundials are displayed, representing the evolution of the local industry. Casa Bruseschi is also characteristic: a typical local aristocratic residence from the 16th-17th centuries, containing an exhibition of period furniture and tools.
