The Losa farm, owing to its magnificence, plays an important role in the Alpine farm sector. At a few metres from the farm we find a mostly dry branch of the Rio Losa river, near its banks we can admire the alpenrose, or the hairy Alpine rose, the winter heath or the spring gentian.
Site
Ovaro (Ud)
From Ampezzo you drive on toward Sauris and, two hundred metres after the short tunnel past the dam, climb up on the right toward Lateis. Leaving the hamlet behind, you drive ahead on a mostly paved road, and, while keeping the right-hand side at the first fork, you cross the ford of the Pieltinis torrent and you climb on the left; after a few hairpin bends you reach a second fork in the road, where you continue on the right and, after passing by a first fork on the left and a second fork on the right, you reach the Losa Alpine farm.

And then...

The valley floor villages are all rich in history and in points of interest:
In Sauris, an old village with houses and cottages built with the "Blockbau" technique (overlapping logs with joined notched corners), with roofs covered with wood shingles, the Sauranolanguage – of German descent – survives to this day, together with various traditional events. Here you can visit the ethnographic centre "Haus van der Zahre" with its exhibition "La storia riemersa - Cimeli di guerra / Khriekhgedeinkhn" (The re-emerged history - War memorabilia) and the Historiographic Centre – S. Osvaldo Museum, where everyday life through seven centuries is depicted, as well as several craft workshops. The local foodstuffs, such as the GPI raw ham, the speck and the craft beer, are much appreciated. From a natural and environmental point of view, we would like to mention the lake with the majestic dam, while in the bordering woods roe deer, deer, chamois, martens, skunks, beech martens, squirrels, dormice, voles, black grouses and capercaillies, various diurnal and nocturnal raptors and, lately, also lynxes and brown bears can be seen.
Ampezzo houses the Pinacoteca Davanzo picture gallery, at Palazzo Unfer, with an interesting collection of works of art, and the geological museum, where a rich repertoire of rocks and fossils covering a time span of 400 million years is displayed. Other buildings of religious and historic interest are the church of San Daniele, the church of the Santissima Trinità (in Oltris) and the Palazzo Beorchia - Nigris of the 17th century, a typical example of Carnic architecture.
Pesariis (in the municipality of Prato Carnico, in the Pesarina valley) is called the village of clocks, because here the factory of the Solari brothers was founded. In the village centre an itinerary with clocks and two monumental sundials representing the evolution of the local industry has been set up. Here stands Casa Bruseschi, a typical Carnic aristocratic residence from the 17th-18th centuries with period furniture and tools on display.
Ovaro is rich in history and vestiges, such as the "Museo Ex Miniera di Carbone" (a museum of the former coalmine) and the "Ex Miniera Creta d'Oro" (a former mine), which illustrate mining at the turn of the 20th century, in the hamlet of Cludinico, the "Museo del Legno e della Segheria Veneziana" (Museum of wood and of the Venetian sawmill) in Aplis, the stone mill of Baus, the Namontet necropolis, the house of a hundred windows in Mione, and a few mansions in Luint.
