On the main door of the Alpine farm carvings and initials can be seen, which reveal the artistic qualities and the feelings of the successive farmers and herdsmen who have worked here.
Site
Prato Carnico (Ud)
Along the road that leads from Pesariis to Pradibosco, around hundred metres from the relics of a sawmill, keep left and reach the right-hand bank of the Pesarina torrent, after around 1.5 km, at Cuesta di Sotto, a long series of hairpin bends begins which shortly lead to higher altitudes. Keeping the left at a fork, you climb up to the Ielma di Sotto farm. From there, you go straight ahead up to Ielma di Sopra.

And then...
From Ielma di Sopra you cross the saddle and descend to the Casera Pieltinis and, later, into the Sauris hollow (CAI trail no. 218).
After descending to Sauris, an old village with houses and cottages built with the "Blockbau" technique (overlapping logs with joined notched corners) with roofs covered with wood shingles, you can visit the ethnographic centre "Haus van der Zahre" and its exhibition "La storia riemersa - Cimeli di guerra / Khriekhgedeinkhn" (The re-emerged history - War memorabilia). The traces of the Saurano German dialect and the Historiographic Centre – S. Osvaldo Museum, which depicts everyday life through seven centuries are also interesting. There are numerous craft workshops and factories where the local foodstuffs, such as the PGI raw ham, the "speck", and the Zahre beer, are produced.
The namesake lake with its imposing dam is spectacular and the bordering woods, which are inhabited and flown over by roe deer, deer, chamois, martens, skunks, beech martens, squirrels, dormice, voles, black grouses and capercaillies, various diurnal and nocturnal raptors and, recently, also by lynxes and brown bears, are really fascinating.
In the Pesarina valley, in Pesariis – the village of clocks – (in the municipality of Prato Carnico), where the factory of the Solari brothers was founded, you can admire clocks and two monumental sundials representing the evolution of the local industry. Here you can also see Casa Bruseschi: a typical Carnic aristocratic residence from the 17th-18th centuries containing period furniture and tools on display.
